McAdoo's biography publishes in the fall of 2026, co-authored with journalist John X. MIller

Bob is in the Naismith Hall of Fame as one of the greatest basketball players ever. Now, he just was inducted into the International Civil Rights Hall in his hometown of Greensboro NC .

His story is more than a basketball legacy. It’s about a tennis family were his daughter, oldest son and grandsons all are tennis talents.  

"Can-Do McAdoo" was selected in July 2026 as the 2026 Tex Winter Assistant Coach Lifetime Impact Award. In 19 seasons and coached over 1,500 NBA games in 19 season and reached the NBA Finals five times.

This is what Pat Riley, Miami Heat President and coach of  the "Showtime" L.A. Lakers from 1981-1990, had to say about Bob:  

" From his upbringing, a great upbringing in North Carolina, he brought that into the league, that discipline, that competitiveness. He brought in the fire that I want to stay on top. I'm the best. I'm going to stay on top. He never took any days off. He never tried to cut a drill, he never cut corners. He never did any of those things. And so that's what he brought to me as a coach in 1995 (when Riley became Miami Heat head coach)."

"He coached 19 years here in Miami, so he coached all the big men during that time. But his influence wasn't just to big men. His influence went across the board to all of our players. He could talk to everybody in that voice, so competitive and don't ever take a step back against somebody and to really compete.
